ESCORT OPPORTUNITIES

 

Our escorts are the hallmark of the Peninsula Seniors Trips. They provide the services and sense of comfort expected by our travelers. As a volunteer, you to can become a member of this elite group. Depending on the nature of the trip, either one or two escorts are assigned. When serving as an escort, your trip is underwritten by the Peninsula Seniors. We conduct between 24 and 36 trips a year. We try to maintain a complement of 12 escorts, which means each escort will be assigned to about three trips a year. The schedules are a function of the trip and the availability of the escort. Just think, for a little effort, you can enjoy some fabulous trips at no cost.

The following tasks are required of the escorts.

Training:  

  • Attend a training session which will give you the confidence to carry out the duties of an escort.
  • Learn and practice using a microphone properly.

Prior to the trip (about a week),  

  1. You will contact all the travelers to remind them of the trip, the date and time they must arrive at the center for check-in.
  2. Answer questions they may have.

The day before:

 Pick up a boarding list to prepare for the check-in.

The day of the trip:

Open the Senior Center .

  • Check-in thee travelers.
  • Guide the coach loading.
  • Welcome the travelers and describe the itinerary
  • Provide pertinent information at the destination.
  • Ensure all are aboard the coach prior to returning.
  • Pass out the survey forms
  • Inform the travelers of future events and trips
  • Thank them for traveling with the Peninsula Seniors.
  • Open the Center should anyone need the facilities
